Promise Pathways is located on Long Island, just a couple of minutes outside the beautiful town of Huntington, NY. We are a private practice serving the broader community with a focus on anxiety, depression, substance abuse, AD/HD, self-esteem, and trauma-related issues via evidenced-based practices including, but not limited to Motivational Interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and MCBT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy). With a career spanning two decades across corporate boardrooms and clinical practice, I offer a unique perspective on resilience, growth, and the complexities of the human experience. Licensed since 2015 and currently practicing in New York and Delaware, I bridge the gap between high-level professional strategy and deep emotional healing.
Clinical Expertise & Specializations
My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based care and a deep understanding of how our past shapes our present, I specialize in supporting women through pivotal life transitions, navigating the unique challenges of ADHD, and facilitating profound trauma recovery.
As a Certified EMDR Therapist and a Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Specialist, I help clients process complex trauma and reclaim their identities after toxic relationships. Whether you are untangling the effects of a high-conflict partnership or seeking to manage a neurodivergent brain in a neurotypical world, I provide a structured yet empathetic space for transformation.

My experience includes:
- Graduate Educator: Teaching and mentoring the next generation of counselors in graduate-level programs.

- Corporate Veteran: Prior to my clinical career, I spent 15 years as a manager within Fortune 500 corporations. This Background allows me to deeply resonate with my clients’ professional pressures, leadership challenges, and the nuances of workplace culture.

Lisa-Marie Pryer, MHC-LP, CRC, WIP-C
Mental Health Counselor | Promise Pathways
Lisa earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.S.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling in Mental Health from Hofstra University. During her practicum and internship at a community clinic, she provided counseling services to individuals ranging in age from 15 to 72, addressing a wide spectrum of mental health and vocational concerns. She also developed and implemented a social skills curriculum for children ages 8–12 and facilitated both youth socialization groups and a parenting skills group.
With more than nine years of experience, Lisa has worked extensively with individuals living with Serious Mental Illness, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, as well as those managing co-occurring substance use disorders. Her clinical background reflects a strong commitment to supporting individuals with complex mental health and vocational needs.
As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Lisa partners with clients to explore meaningful career paths and supports them in finding, obtaining, and maintaining employment. She is also a Certified Work Incentive Practitioner (WIP-C), enabling her to guide public benefit recipients through the process of entering or returning to competitive employment while understanding the impact on their benefits.
Lisa practices from a person-centered, holistic framework, recognizing that presenting concerns are interconnected with broader life stressors. She collaborates with clients to develop individualized treatment plans and serves as a dedicated ally throughout their personal and professional journeys.
As a working mother, Lisa appreciates the challenges of balancing career and family life and encourages the integration of sustainable self-care practices into daily routines.
